Technical Artist

Our business is growing and we are looking for a Tech Artist to join our team. This is a great opportunity to join an award-winning games company who values people over process. You will work alongside the General Manager, Digital Operations and play a key role in the on-going success of the company! 

This position is a mixture of an art generalist, tech artist and art director. As the successful candidate you will protect the artistic vision and cultural sensibilities of ARA Journeys.

Day to day, your role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Suggest strategies to help ARA Journeys develop a unique artistic style.

  • Create or adjust UI directly in the Unity3D engine.

  • Produce dynamic game assets including, but not limited to: 2d, 3d, still, animated, environment, prop, character and visual effects.

  • Propose, prepare, maintain and review efficient art production pipelines including workflows and software.

  • Optimizing environments in the Unity3D engine.

About you

You will be an experienced tech artist with at least 1-2 years of industry experience. You will have proven analytical and problem-solving skills and work well under pressure. The team work remotely, so it is essential that you have strong organisational skills, ability to focus on priorities, manage change and deliver against agreed deadlines. You will enjoy taking on new projects and be prepared to problem solve and be creative when it comes to new solutions.

The ideal candidate will be willing to push the boundaries in a fast-paced environment.

Skills required:

  • Exceptional attention detail.

  • A strong portfolio or demo reel.

  • Ability to identify the best tools and software to maximize game delivery.

  • Experience with shopfront (e.g. Google Play and App Store) regulations and guidelines pertaining to art content.

  • You may also be required to use some or a combination of the following software: Tilt Brush, C, C++, Java, Python, Lua, MaxScript, Perl,  Maya, 3D Studio Max, Substance Painter.
